Purpose Although the indication for tumor treating fields (TTFields) has been approved in the field of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) among patients with advanced NSCLC after the failure of platinum-based drug treatment, there is a lack of systematically mature examples and summaries regarding the nursing care for advanced NSCLC patients receiving TTFields. This study aims to summarize the nursing experience of NSCLC patients receiving TTFields in the LUNAR study at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center for the first time in China, so as to provide exemplary support for the promotion and application of TTFields in the field of lung cancer treatment.
Methods Review and summarize the nursing work during the period when NSCLC patients received TTFields in the LUNAR study at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, and sort out the targeted nursing measures covering health education, condition observation, skin care, psychological care and discharge follow-up.
Results By implementing the above nursing measures, relatively good results have been achieved. Specifically, the treatment compliance of patients has been improved. Throughout the entire nursing process, none of the patients had serious adverse reactions, and the nursing outcomes were quite remarkable.
Conclusion The nursing experience and methods summarized in this study play an important exemplary role in the promotion and application of TTFields in the field of lung cancer treatment. They can provide effective references for subsequent clinical nursing work and facilitate the standardized and normalized development of the nursing work for advanced NSCLC patients receiving TTFields.
